His life spools out in easily measured increments: capsule collections, yards of hand dyed textiles, ninety day lead times, sell through figures, cost of goods sold. Every date in manufacturing can be calculated backwards and forward from a single horizon point: the date that the goods must arrive into the country where they'll be sold. Other than that, nothing else really matters.

This Lan Zhan has a set jaw and a steely look in his eye, ready to fight anyone who gets in Wei Wuxian's way. This Lan Zhan puts up no fronts - it almost hurts to look at him, he's so open. Wei Wuxian looks at this Lan Zhan, and he wonders. (i.e., Wei Wuxian tries real hard to use his two brain cells to figure out if Lan Zhan likes-him, likes-him or not.) // this fic always has me going "you fool!!! you utter buffoon!!!!" right up until it makes me legitimately cry and i for one respect that

I've legit never recovered from reading wwx talking to his past self at the height of his trauma, or lwj thinking about how even in time travel he can't see wwx as he was before he gave up his golden core. also, this quote: “Solitude suits me.” Lan Wangji looks at this boy—this boy, who will not understand his pain for months, months, years, decades. All he knows now is cold. When you are born in winter, when you are raised in winter, when you are planted and watered and nurtured in winter, all you can ever know is ice. All you will ever know are hands too frozen to bend, feet too cold to feel.
