- Description
- There are times when Lan Zhan pictures the version of himself that is human. Fist-sized muscle beating in his chest, the precarious architecture of a skeleton, wet muscle and visceral organs. He sees that Lan Zhan swallowing and setting his jaw, although the real Lan Zhan does not make those motions. The movement of his mouth is only a formality, a quirk of programming to soften the strangeness of his existence, as he says, “You weren’t here.”
